Biography

I have over 15 years of experience working with clients suffering from chemical dependency/addiction issues, grief issues, depression, and anxiety-related disorders, and working with families dealing with the unfortunate consequences of addiction.

As a person in recovery from the disease of addiction, I have several years of personal experience in both active addiction and the joy of the recovery process. I was a musician earlier in life and am still passionate about the role the arts can play in our overall well-being. I’m an avid baseball and hockey fan, and look forward to the fall season when hockey begins and baseball playoffs start! Two of my favorite things in the world are my two dogs, Gracie and Sadie.

I would say that my “sweet spot” has been working with addicts and especially their families who are trying to work on setting healthy boundaries. I have also greatly enjoyed working with hospice clients and their families, and later in grief treatment for people who have suffered a loss (several of my previous clients had grief issues with lost pets, which I think can be an underserved population!)

Selfishly, I think my “favorite” clients are the ones who are motivated to be in treatment. I have had several years working with “mandated” clients who don’t want to be in treatment. I haven’t had too many of those in private practice, but they tend to be more difficult. My favorite clients are open, honest, and willing to look at the difficult issues that have them seeking treatment.
