Life Transitions & Adjustment Counseling
Are you struggling to cope with significant changes, crises, or stressful events?
Do you feel like the unbearable stress and anxiety are starting to overwhelm you?
Treatment for major adjustments and life crisis
“Life crises” and “significant” changes are objective. While some struggle with grief and death, others can feel overwhelmed by losing a job, ending a relationship, or even something positive such as becoming a parent. Here, we understand and respect any circumstances that may cause emotional distress and affect your general functioning. Our treatments aim to help you manage your individual emotional reactions, coping skills and promote personal growth in challenging times.
Let’s face it, life can be overwhelming. The fast pace and the uncontrolled changes are sometimes just too much to handle. While these life transitions and events are not always negative, the need to quickly “adjust” or “contain our emotions” does not always go hand in hand with our ability to do so, which can drain us emotionally and physically.
What is an adjustment disorder?
An adjustment disorder is an emotional or behavioral reaction to a stressful event or changes in a person’s life. The “reaction” is usually long-lasting and unhealthy and negatively impacts one’s life.
Our adjustment and life crises therapy provides a supportive and non-judgmental space for individuals to share, open up, and directly address the emotions and experiences that led to the loss of control and the feelings of a daily struggle.
Common issues:
Job loss or unemployment
Relationship Issues or divorce
A loved one’s passing
Chronic illness or disability
Accidents or traumas
Natural disasters or another major crisis
