Angela Sims, LMSW
Angela Sims is a Licensed Social Worker with 20 years of experience in the field. Her work began with adults and children with ASD in a variety of settings which included case management and setting up residential services for adults with disabilities. Angela was the director of a weekend camp for adults with autism and other neurogenic disorders for 9 years and served on the board of a nonprofit organization providing therapeutic art techniques to help individuals with ASD with self-regulation, independence, and self-esteem.
Angela has a Bachelor’s degree in Art from The Ohio State University, and a Master’s in Social Work with a focus in counseling children, youth, and families from Case Western Reserve University. Angela’s journey as a therapist began 8 years ago in the children’s department of a community mental health center, working with children, families, and couples. For the past 6 years, she has worked in private practice and currently works with individuals and couples.
Angela specializes in treating trauma and recognizes the role it plays to perpetuate problems in relationships and all aspects of life, as well as helping couples and individuals learn skills to expel toxic behaviors and communication patterns in relationships.
Modalities used are: CBT, a variety of ways to process trauma and treat anxiety and depression, somatic therapy, EFT and therapeutic art processing. Angela has an overall holistic approach to treatment.
