Denise Mathewson

I am Denise Mathewson, a seasoned professional with 32 years of experience in the Human Services field. Throughout my career, I have cultivated expertise in the specialized areas of Child Welfare and Adoption. Additionally, I have established a thriving private practice where I have been assisting individuals dealing with a range of challenges such as grief and loss, work-life stress, personal issues, anxiety, and depression.

Drawing from my personal faith background, I offer a unique blend of supportive Biblical counseling alongside my clinical skills, catering to those seeking a holistic approach to therapy. However, I am equally committed to working with individuals from diverse faiths and backgrounds, embracing a spirit of inclusivity and cultural sensitivity.

Within my therapeutic practice, I specialize in several evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. By employing these approaches, I am able to address the specific needs of my clients, providing them with effective tools to navigate their challenges and improve their overall well-being.

Recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, I adopt a holistic perspective in my work. I firmly believe that by addressing these elements, individuals can experience true healing and enhance their life stories. In support of this philosophy, I incorporate mindfulness techniques and advocate for self-care options whenever possible, empowering individuals to take an active role in their own well-being.

On a personal note, I pursued my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) as an adult learner, while concurrently interning in a psychiatric facility. My dedication to personal and professional growth is mirrored in my 32-year marriage and my role as a proud parent to three adult children. Residing in a peaceful neighborhood, I strive to embody a healthy lifestyle and uphold principles of clean living. Above all, I cherish the time spent with my loved ones, valuing the importance of family and close friendships.

In summary, as an experienced and compassionate therapist, I bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to guide individuals on their journey towards healing and personal growth. With an open-minded and inclusive approach, I am dedicated to helping clients from all walks of life overcome their challenges and achieve their goals.
